I’m Rui — a product person who started out writing code.

Over the last decade I’ve moved from software engineering to Scrum mastery to product ownership. These days I lead product at LastPass, looking after the Vault and Browser Extension products used by millions of people — and I spend a lot of my time figuring out how AI changes the way teams build.

The engineering background never really left. I like being close to how things actually get made, and I think the best product decisions come from understanding both the people using a product and the people building it.

This site isn’t only about work, though. I’m happiest making things — tinkering with side projects, learning something new, and writing the occasional post about whatever’s caught my attention. Consider this corner of the internet where I collect those bits and pieces.
